n 1997 a devastating flood swept through the Merced River Canyon stripping parts of Highway 140 away. Without the highway to Yosemite National Park, businesses in the hamlet of Mariposa began to suffer and close. Visit Mariposa ™ was born to try to get the word out and let the world know that the community of Mariposa was still here.
